Bio:
Dr. Vilhousienuo Neli holds a PhD in Anthropology from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong and has also qualified UGC-NET/JRF.
Prior to joining CWSS Uni. she worked as a Research Officer at RIWATCH Centre for Mother Languages, Arunachal Pradesh, leading ethnographic and community-based projects in various capacities to the preserve and promote the mother languages of the different tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. Her research work spans diverse tribal communities of Northeast India, including the Angami Nagas of Nagaland, the Adi, Kaman Mishmi and Singpho communities of Arunachal Pradesh. Her recent book titled Singpho Folksongs (2025), a bilingual book, compiles traditional folksongs to preserve the archaic language and cultural heritage of the Singpho community.
She specializes in Socio-Cultural Anthropology and her areas of interest include Anthropology of Food, Visual Anthropology, Identity Politics, Material Culture, Indigenous Religion and Symbolism.
