Department of Zoology

Established in June 2025, the Department of Zoology envisions being a cornerstone of education dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and hands-on training by exploring various aspects of animal life and encompassing a comprehensive study of the animal kingdom. With a focus on nurturing scientific curiosity and environmental awareness, the department shall offer a dynamic and student-focused learning environment that prepares students for both academic and professional success contributing significantly to the scientific community.

Vision:
To provide quality education to young stakeholders who are keen to pursue their studies in various fields of animal sciences and ensure innovative teaching- learning environment as well infra structural facilities. To inculcate the core values of life, science education, respect for nature and concern for ethical values among students by developing a scientific attitude.

Mission:
To establish a vibrant academic Department offering postgraduate and doctoral programs to equip students with a strong foundation in Zoology and related fields and an innovative centre of Research & Development facilities.

About the Department:
The department has a team of well-qualified and experienced faculty members who have been actively engaged in teaching, mentoring, and research. Many faculty members have participated in national and international conferences, contribute to peer-reviewed journals, and are involved in academic development at various levels. The department fosters a vibrant research culture emphasizing on research-based learning.

The Department shall also provide skill development training in practical skills such as apiculture, sericulture, pisciculture, and animal husbandry fostering entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities for students. The students will also be engaged in Community Outreach programmes: to organize public awareness programs on biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability.

The Department of Zoology also seeks to partner with other institutions, grants for research projects, encouraging faculty exchange programs and sharing expertise.

In summary, the Department of Zoology offers a well-rounded academic experience grounded in quality teaching, hands-on learning, and impactful research. It continues to prepare students to meet global challenges in the life sciences with confidence, competence, and a deep sense of ecological responsibility. The flagship Post Graduate programme in Zoology is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in animal biology, physiology, cell biology, genetics, and more. The program integrates theoretical concepts with practical applications, preparing students for both higher education and paving their career paths.
