Bio:
I have served as Senior Lecturer & Head in Botany in a college for 20 years and as Associate Professor & Head in the Department of Environmental Science in a University for 6 years and guided 3 students and 1 ongoing (total -4) for Ph.D. in Environmental Science. Besides 4 research publications, I had worked as Project Investigator in a Meghalaya Pollution Board sponsored project on ‘ Environmental Impact of coal mining in Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya in 1991-92. As Research Officer of National Afforestation & Eco-Development Board of the Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India, I took active part in conducting monitoring & evaluation, documentation, organizing workshop, training and exposure activities in afforestation programmes in NER during the period from 2012-15.Thereafter, I had a short stint with an international NGO' PRAGYA' in Haryana and supervised water conservation projects in UK and Kenya. As a university faculty, I carried out an evaluation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded Project on Integrated Farming in Meghalaya in 2017.As Plant Biodiversity Specialist , I undertook a study for the World Bank funded Project entitled “ Meghalaya Integrated Transport Project “ involving Biodiversity Assessment and preparation of Biodiversity Management Plan (BMP) in Ri-Bhoi and Garo Hills of Meghalaya in 2020. As the founder Secretary of Meghalaya Integrated Mountain Development Initiative (MIMDI) , I had piloted the establishment of a steam distillation unit for extraction of oil from medicinal and aromatic plants in Meghalaya. As co-investigator, I am currently implementing an UNDP funded project on biodiversity conservation, climate change and land degradation in Ri-Bhoi district in Meghalaya. As a Life Member of Indian Science Congress Association, I have attended many Science Congress besides attending international, national, regional and state level workshops, seminars, conferences and acted as Resource Persons ,Panel Chairmen and session Experts. I am a regular presenter of talks on Environmental issues from All India Radio, Shillong and North Eastern Service, Shillong.
