The Department of English focuses primarily on the study of English literature and branches out into its interdisciplinary courses of English Language Teaching, Linguistics, Cultural Studies and Professional Communication. The department introduces students to a wide range of literary works—from classical to contemporary—and helps them develop strong reading, writing, and analytical skills. It seeks to empower students by training them to better understand the world through insightful reading and to better express themselves through incisive writing. Through its courses, students gain a deeper understanding of literature, language and culture.
The faculty in the department envisions uplifting students in their literary mindset, encouraging theoretical analysis and proceeding towards a research-oriented approach. Keeping these values in mind, the department seeks to overcome challenges and bring forth the students’ academic performance, which would be on par with the top universities of the country.
